Metrotown Sears

Metrotown Sears is envisioned to become a pedestrian-oriented, transit-connected community that reflects the strong urban design principles and unique urban form of the city of Burnaby. IBI Group developed the master plan, led the rezoning process, directed the consultant team, and is now providing architecture services for the first phase of the community.

Metrotown Sears is a nine-acre site located along Kingsway in the City of Burnaby, which is being developed by Concord Pacific Developments. IBI Group is the prime consultant responsible for the master plan and rezoning and is the architect for the first three towers and podium.

Metrotown Sears will be redeveloped from a traditional mall into a vibrant, street-oriented, mixed-use community. Streets will be animated with airy plazas and cafes, wide sidewalks and separated cycling lanes. Six residential towers and one commercial tower will sit atop retail podiums and have resort-like outdoor amenity spaces. Development is sequenced to allow existing retailers to operate until replacement spaces are constructed.
